This fossil dates back 299-276 million years to the Lower Permian period just before the time of the dinosaurs. This era saw Earth's first complete ecosystem, which was wiped out in the Permian extinction of 95% of all life. Permian era caves were discovered during limestone mining, and a fossil discovery and rescue team from Paleo Tex recovered as many of these fossils as possible before these precious remnants of history were destroyed.
